Jessica is the author and illustrator of The Blobfish Book Shark Detective, and Adrift: An Odd Couple of Polar Bears, and Right Now (April 17, 2018) all with  Balzer+Bray. She is also the illustrator of Hamsters Don't Fight Fires from HarperCollins.

Jessica's cartoons and illustrations have been published in the New Yorker, Spiralbound, the Hairpin and Condé Nast Traveler.

Before becoming a children's book maker Jessica worked as a journalist and lived in Egypt, Thailand and the Netherlands. Her  writing for adults has been published in Slate, Salon, Bust, Pacific Standard, The Atlantic, McSweeney's, Jezebel, Marie Claire and many others. 

Now she lives in Brooklyn and works from her studio in the Pencil Factory. She still loves to travel though and when she is stressed you can usually find her searching for flights online or looking at pictures of Corgis.
